At Risk Family:
Adoption is the Option
Beloved in the Lord,
My family would not exist, had two mothers not made the courageous decision not to abort, but to put their babies up for adoption.
I was adopted at birth, and raised in a good family. Of my four sons, one is married and his wife was also adopted at birth by a wonderful family.
“Adoption is the option” that gave us life. And we have both lived our lives well.
I served our country proudly as a Navy officer. I serve our church as an Orthodox priest, and as Chancellor of the Metropolis of Denver. I wish my birth mother knew that the baby she gave life to has lived a worthwhile life.
Our daughter-in-law graduated from the US Naval Academy, and she has a MS Degree in Nuclear Engineering from ODU. She now works as a project manager for a defense contractor still serving our nation. She is a pious Orthodox wife and Sunday School teacher. I wish her birth mother knew that the baby she gave life to has lived a worthwhile life.
Abortion kills a life that could be well lived. We are living proof that adoption is the gift of life, a choice for life. Our lives today bear witness to the courageous decisions made by our mothers.
With love in the Christ,
Fr. Luke Uhl, Chancellor
Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Denver
